Lapua Chains named Company of the Year at the Lapua Entrepreneurs' Annual Gala

Lapua Chains Ltd received a significant honor when the Lapua Entrepreneurs’ Association (Lapuan Yrittäjät ry) named it Company of the Year. The recognition was presented during the entrepreneurs' annual gala on November 16, 2024. The company was highlighted as a success story and a role model within its industry. This accolade reflects Lapua Chains' long history, robust growth, and commitment to quality and continuous development.

Strong History and Steady Growth

Lapua Chains Ltd was founded 22 years ago, in September 2002, when Jorma Luoma’s company, Kauhavan Konepaja, acquired the chain factory previously owned by Patria. Jorma began developing the business from challenging beginnings, but through strong entrepreneurial spirit, perseverance, and extensive expertise, he laid the foundation for the thriving business it is today.

Currently, the company, which employs 60 people, is led by his son, Tuomas Luoma, who serves as CEO and principal owner. Tuomas has taken Lapua Chains forward with significant investments in both personnel and production. Growth has been pursued systematically, with the contributions of employees, subcontractors, and customers playing a crucial role in this development.

Jorma Luoma, now Chairman of the Board and co-owner, commented:

Challenging Markets and Future Plans
Lapua Chains primarily operates in the wood industry, which presents its own challenges due to market fluctuations. Recent years have been variable for the industry, and currently, the markets are quieter, awaiting a turnaround.

"In manufacturing, market cycles are part of the reality, and this has been considered in Lapua Chains' strategy. We continue to invest steadily, even when the market situation is occasionally challenging," says Tuomas Luoma.

New markets are being sought, particularly through exports. In October, Lapua Chains took a significant step by acquiring a majority stake in the Swedish company AB Erasmis, strengthening its position and laying a foundation for the Swedish market. This investment demonstrates the company's desire to grow and develop its business internationally.
